Meet Elizabeth

I built a life anyway.

Elizabeth Mena came to the United States as a young child. Raised by her parents and grandmother, she grew up learning strength, sacrifice, and survival before she even had the words for them.

Years later, she was placed in immigration detention and spent more than a year separated from her life. After being released on bond, she expected answers. More than ten years later, she is still waiting.

But waiting did not stop her from living. Elizabeth got married, adopted a child, opened her home to animals in need, and continued choosing hope every day.
